Weekend Reads #2: I hop on the Throne of Glass bandwagon

Weekend Reads is a Goodreads group created by Nici, a booktuber over at LitPixie. Basically book lovers can record a video or write a blog post about what they plan to read on the weekend, and also answer a fun question.

The question for this weekend is:

Tell us about your lifelong book crush.

Umm, hmm….a book crush. I think it’s been a while since I’ve had a book crush since one doesn’t immediately come to mind so I’ll go with one I had in high school that didn’t change when I reread the book in college (about 4 years ago).

And it’s Midnight from Sista Souljah’s The Coldest Winter Ever, an urban novel. I read this book back in high school and reread it in college. Back then it was classified as an adult novel, and I guess it is, but it’s mostly teen-age Black girls who read them. I fell in love with Midnight the first time I read The Coldest Winter Ever because of his skin tone, which is very dark, almost black, hence the name. I also liked his personality though now I can’t remember why. He’s not a bad guy but details of the story are foggy so I can’t recall much. I’m placing this one on my reread list.

**Close call: Four from the Divergent series. And I mean from the movie, not book, because he whips his shirt off. 😉

What I’m reading this weekend?

Throne of Glass

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. As I’ve stated in my reading wrap-up, I’m progressing slowly through this book. I picked it because of the hype — yep, I followed the hype with this one — but I think my slow progress is due to my high expectations that this would be a fast read (I don’t know why I think this) and life, which is quite busy and keeps interrupting. I’ve been assured that it gets better so I hope to dedicate some time to reading it this weekend.

Please share your thoughts and comments below as well as what you’re planning to read.

Happy reading! 🙂
