Exploring My Bookshelves: Great Friends Give Gifts Cards for Books

Exploring My Bookshelves is a weekly meme created by Addlepates and Book Nerds.

First, you post a picture of your bookshelf (preferably literal but e-shelves work too):

Zezee's bookshelf2
my bookcase

Second, you get something about your shelf to write about (favorite cover, favorite author, book you most recently bought, etc.):

For June 5th: a book you were gifted

Third, give the blurb and the cover of the book, and what you thought of it if you’ve read it:

This one is a mini book haul since I purchased these books just yesterday. They fit this meme entry because I used a Barnes & Noble gift card that my friend gave me as a belated birthday present to purchase them! 🙂 You can imagine how happy I was to receive that gift card. He gave it to me when we went skydiving and that made the event even more wonderful and enjoyable. I wanted to go to the bookstore the very next day but I waited, and I’m glad I did. This past work week was very trying and exhausting so I treated myself to a trip to the bookstore to purchase these gifts.

I whittled my selection to these three. I’ve mentioned wanting to read Kibuishi’s Amulet because I like his illustrations, and I’ve never read a Neil Gaiman book before so I decided to get one as part of this gift. Copies of all his books were at the store but I went with this one because it’s purple and the word Faerie is in the synopsis on the back. I’ve heard Ready Player One is good so I bought it without reading the synopsis. I’m going purely on word-of-mouth for it because I like what I’ve heard so far.

So what books have you recently received as gifts, or which were your favorites?

Also, if you’ve read any of these, please share your thoughts on them below.

Happy reading! 🙂

  1. I love ‘Stardust’ (and Neil Gaiman) so much! Some say the movie is better than the book, but I enjoyed it so much. I hope it makes you seek Gaiman’s other books too, because he’s simply brilliant 🙂
‘Ready Player One’ was a great read, but it disappointed me in certain parts of the story.
I hope you enjoy your new books! 🙂
