Bout of Books 14: Update 5

Yesterday was Day 5 of Bout of Books 14 but I was too tired to post anything. It was much better than Day 4. I read. The day was good. The sun was shinning, and I was smiling a bit more; though that was probably because I went for a run in the morning. Working out really does make you feel better. Yeah for endorphins. Anyways, the books.

Friday, Day 5 progress

Books/graphic novels read

[new] Rat Queens, Vol. 2: The Far Reaching Tentacles of N’rygoth by Kurtis J. Wiebe, illus. by Roc Upchurch and Stjepan Šejić

[new] Saga, Vol. 2 by Brian K. Vaughan, illus. by Fiona Staples

[new] Juniper Berry by M.P. Kozlowsky, illus. by Erwin Madrid

Books/graphic novels completed

Rat Queens, Vol. 2: The Far Reaching Tentacles of N’rygoth

Quick synopsis

Events at the end of the first volume escalate in this one as someone seeks to destroy the ladies, their town, and friends by calling upon the powers of Dee’s tentacled god, N’rygoth.

Quick thoughts

I found the first volume’s plot stronger than this one but my interest in the story was still high. I like that we get a glimpse into the ladies’ past to learn more about who they are and I also like the questions raised about religion, beliefs, truth, and ignorance. Like most readers, I didn’t like the art in the second half of the book.

Saga, Vol. 2

Quick synopsis

The story continues. Marko’s parents help out. The mercenary and Prince Robot IV kind of catches up to them. And there’s a fatality.

Quick thoughts

I think Marko is hot [blushes]. I don’t have much more to say other than that. The story is still going strong and the illustrations are as good and weird as every. Sextillion is a scary place.

Where did I read?

At home in bed. I thought of going somewhere but I didn’t feel like travelling, plus bugs love my blood so they keep gnawing on me.

For a list of books I plan to read, see my first post.
