Weekend Reads #20: On Blogging

Weekend Reads is a weekly discussion on a variety of topics. At the end of the post, I’ll include what I plan to read on the weekend.

The question/topic for this weekend:

Should I change my blog’s web address?

As I’ve often mentioned on here, I had no forethought of what I wanted to discuss when I started this blog. Back then, I didn’t pay much attention to the blog’s name or the other bells and whistles that we add to our blogs to make it look more appealing. But the more I blog and interact with others in the blogosphere, the more I realize how important a name is and even the web address.

I’m currently participating in Blogging 201, one of WordPress’s tutorials on how to improve your blog, and one of last week’s tasks was on branding. Now I know branding is important, but I don’t pay much attention to that fact when making improvements to my blog. I make changes either because I want to try a new look, introduce a new feature, or make things easier to find.

But the task on Auditing Your Brand made me think of the cohesiveness of my blog’s presentation, and when I began thinking of that, my thoughts returned to my web address. I’ve been considering updating my blog’s web address for some time now but I’m not sure if I should. Basically, I think it will be a pain because I’ll lose whatever connections are made to my blog and I’m not going to purchase a site redirect package thing. However, I know changing the address will help. Zezee112.wordpress.com does not say what my blog is about and can be a little difficult to remember. Even I sometimes forget that my blog address is Zezee112 and not ZezeeWithBooks. But I’ll think on this for a week and then decide next weekend.

If you have any advice this, please share them below.
What I’m reading this weekend:

It’s these three. I got Pema Chödrön’s Fail, Fail Again, Fail Better yesterday, which reminds me that I should do a book haul soon, and I’m still rereading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Though I said I was reading it last weekend, I instead spent that weekend and last week reading The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. I was so hooked. The same goes for A Clash of Kings, however, I now realize that as much as I enjoy rereading these two books, I’m getting a little tired of rereading. The Raven Boys reminded me of all the great books I’ve yet to read so when I pick up one of the two rereads above, I feel as if I’m keeping myself back.

Let me know what you’re reading this weekend.

Happy Sunday reading. 🙂

  1. My blog was messy until recently when I switched layouts as part of an overhaul and I did consider changing my web address but since I don’t regard it as a business I decided to wait although I am leaning more and more towards changing it to something more cinema related.

    Zezeewithbooks does sound good.

    1. Thanks for the input. Yea, I don’t think of my blog as a business either, which is why I wonder if I need to change the address. But it is bad when even me the creator forget what the address is exactly.
