Hi there.
It’s me again, Zezee, with the same old news that I plan to update my web address. When will this occur? Tonight. Midnight. The hour of magical happenings.
I will change the address from zezeewithbooks.wordpress.com to zezeewithbooks.wordpress.com, or something of the sort. The zezee112 account will become inactive so I guess all previous links to my blog will be defunct.
But never fear. If you need to find me and you can’t recall or locate the web address, there is Google. Just google Zezee with Books and my blog should pop up, otherwise I’m screwed. Just remember, it’s one E between the zees and two E’s after. I think that line would be great in a rhyme.
Can’t say I’m not anxious, though. I keep worrying that this will all go wrong and I’ll be left with a blog without an address, detached and floating untethered in the world wide web. Is that even possible? Anyways, that’s my greatest fear at the moment.
Anyways, until next time.
Zezee
P.S.: See you at the new address. Remember, midnight.
Sending wellness energy with this comment.
Till the witching hour tonight then, I’ll check to make sure you haven’t disappeared.
Luck again π

Lol thanks Steve. I got sick and slept through my midnight deadline so I’ll switch tonight instead.

Hi, Zezee. Your blog can’t wind up address-less, so you don’t need to worry about that. And you can change the address but still keep the old address as well. Just don’t delete it when prompted. This will leave the current address with an empty site.
If you want old links to keep working you can buy the site redirect upgrade for the old address after the change, then all those links will go to the new address instead.
By the way, your blog actually won’t be in Google for a few weeks after the change, as Google will first need to re-index it at the new address. Until that process is complete any Google results will point to cached pages at the current address, so it won’t help people find your new address at first.
P.S. Midnight where? π

Oh, thanks for explaining it. Hmm…so when I switch site address, the link that shows up in WordPress Reader will no longer work, right?
I wanted to avoid having to purchase the site redirect thing.

No, the Reader will link to the new address, even for old posts, I think, cause the Reader works on your site’s RSS feed, not on individual post links. The site redirect is for outside links, like if another site linked to your blog, as well as pingbacks where you linked to prompts, challenges, etc. generating a link back to your site in the process.

Oh! Awesome! I’m so glad you dropped by. Ok, so I’ll keep the old address after switching just in case I decided to get the site redirect later.

Or you can set it to private and use as a test blog to try out new themes/import content from your main site and use it as a backup site. It’s always handy to have a spare site lying around.
