Exploring My Bookshelves is a weekly meme created by Victoria at Addlepates and Book Nerds and co-hosted with Shannon at For the Love of Words. Visit either blog for the list of topics.
This week’s topic:
A book that terrifies you to read
Since I tend to shy away from books that would terrify me, I don’t have such a book on my shelf. However, there is one book I’d like to read but am procrastinating on because I think it would be scary and it’s this —
Regarding Stephen King, I’d like to read his books in publication order and since I read Carrie a while back, Salem’s Lot is the next one I’ll read. Though Carrie wasn’t scary [I rhymed! :D], I’m still a bit traumatized from watching It when I was a little girl so naturally I assume that all of King’s books will be even more scary than the movies so, yea. I’m terrified to read this one.
What book terrifies you? Let me know below.
How this meme works:
- Take a “shelfie” (a picture of your bookshelf). Preferably literal, but e-shelves work too.
- Write something on the day’s prompt.
- Give the blurb and the cover of the book (and what you thought of it if you’ve read it).
- Link back to Victoria’s post.
My bookshelf:

I’m with you – after Cujo and Carrie, I haven’t been able to read Stephen King. He is the master of horror.

Lol. The master of horror, the inducer of nightmares—Stephen King.

Salem’s Lot seems like it could be a lot scarier than Carrie. IT definitely changed my views on clowns forever. Despite wanting to read them, I shy away from a lot of Stephen King’s books. (And some of them are just too long.)

Carrie was actually boring to me, except for the last pages when Carrie got angry so I hope Salem is better.

It’s definitely a slow book. There’s probably more action in Salem’s Lot.
