Book Haul #18: The Free and the Discount

Yea! A book haul! I love getting new books. I especially love to get new books for free or at least discounted. I’m glad that this haul is a mixture of free and discounts.

Barnes & Noble

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

…When I heard that it’s a bit similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender, I had to get it.

Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch

Jackaby by William Ritter

Shadows by Robin McKinley

…Barnes & Noble had a 2/$20 sale so I hopped on that and I’m just curious about that McKinley book.

Book Outlet

Song of Kali by Dan Simmons

…This sounds intriguing. I’m curious to see what it’s about. I’ll read it as part of my horror reading challenge.

Wildwood by Colin Meloy, illus. by Carson Ellis

…I always see this book when I visit BookOutlet.com and I love the cover so much that I decided to get it.

Penguin Random House

Porch Lies: Tales of Slicksters, Tricksters, and Other Wily Characters by Patricia C. McKissack, illus. by André Carrilho

Eona by Alison Goodman

…Penguin Random House has a discount going on for Valentine’s Day: 20% off plus free shipping. I took advantage of it and got these two. I discovered Porch Lies on their website and loved the illustrations and what it’s about so I got it and I’m curious to see how the Eon duology ends.

The Last Ever After by Soman Chainani

The Travels by Marco Polo

Arcadia by James Treadwell

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

…I found these at work and I’m glad I did. I’ve never read any of the books in The School for Good and Evil series, but I couldn’t pass such a beautiful cover when I saw it, even though it’s the third book in the series. The cover also made me pick up Marco Polo’s book and the typography made me grab Kafka’s though I already have a copy in another edition. I have the first book in Treadwell’s series so I thought I might as well get the third though I don’t have the second and haven’t yet started the series. Yes, my reasoning makes a lot of sense.

And that’s it for now. Let me know if you’ve read any of these books.

  1. ooh great haul- that marco polo book looks like a really pretty edition and I’ve never actually gotten round to reading Metamorphosis- despite having read the first chapter a gazillion times- let me know what you think!

    1. I’m excited to read it though I wait a while longer until I calm down before starting it. I’ve only read the first Throne of Glass book so far so I might miss those similarities.

        1. Lol! That’s the reaction I always get when I say I’ve only read the first book. At first I wasn’t going to continue with the series but I’m curious about it again because of readers’ reactions. It was curiosity that made me try that first book.

  3. I have Eona as well! Haven’t gotten around to reading it yet, but I’m anxious to find out what happens to Eona after, well, everything that happened in Eon. 😉 Not to mention the world that Alison Goodman created is so rich and fascinating. Enjoy all your new books!

    1. Thanks!
I’ll have to reread Eon before I hop to Eona though because I’ve forgotten a few details. I really wonder how Eona is in this installment because that last part of Eon when she accepted who and how she is was my favorite.
