Book Fangirling Award

book fangirling award

So a while back, I was nominated for the Book Fangirling Award by the Orang-utan Librarian, Umbreen, and Rachel. I did the post and thought I published it only to discover today that I didn’t. Oh well.

I’ve never before considered myself a fangirl but now that I consider it, I guess I am a fangirl of a few things, namely Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Supernatural. Thanks Orang-utan Librarian, Umbreen, and Rachel for making me realize this. (Click the links below to visit their blogs!)

The Rules:

Create a post to accept your award.

Add the blog award button into your post and put it on the side of your blog as a widget. Visit fangirling for the award button.

Answer the questions I have below.

Nominate between 5-10 book bloggers who you think also deserve this award.

Come up with your own 5 questions for your nominees.

The Orang-utan Librarian asked:

What is your favourite fandom?

I take this to mean my favorite fandom of everything: books, movies, comics, etc. That would be Harry Potter. It’s the only fandom I consider myself to be really committed to.

What book/series/character, etc., do you fangirl over the most?

Again, the Harry Potter series. I don’t get over excited and go all out on the fandoms I’m interested in so my fangirling amounts to just bristling at people who get facts wrong and perking up a little whenever the series is mentioned in any way.

What book series has a massive fanbase but you couldn’t get on board with it?

At the moment, the Throne of Glass series. I read the first and wasn’t enthused to try the second, but I did anyway because everyone said it gets better there but now I’ve read it and I’m not enthused to try the third.

Do you have any fandom merch? Please share photos!

The only thing I have is a Funko Pop of The Hound from A Song of Ice and Fire series (pic below). As far as merchandise goes, I’m on the sad side, but I’m considering to get some Supernatural-inspired jewelry from Sparkle Designs.

What’s the best name for any fandom you’ve ever heard?

I can’t think of any.

Umbreen (Read by Umbreen) asked:

What is your favorite book fandom?

Since I’ve already answered Harry Potter above, I’ll go with Game of Thrones. It’s my second favorite. Does anyone go out of their way to say the long “A Song of Ice and Fire” title? I prefer to call it Game of Thrones.

Last book character that you became absolutely obsessed with?

Probably the Swallow Man from Anna and the Swallow Man by Gavriel Savit. I’m so curious about him.

Which popular book series were you really looking forward to but just didn’t do it for you?

Since I mentioned Throne of Glass above, I’ll go with the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. I didn’t like the second book and I refuse to read the third.

What is something you love about blogging?

Being able to talk about books with someone who has as much enthusiasm about them as me.

Name one of your favorite authors and describe what you like about them so much.

Elizabeth Gilbert. She’s so personable and seems to be honest and open about who and how she is.

Rachel (Life of a Female Bibliophile) asked:

What is your favorite fandom of all time?

I’ve mentioned 2 thus far. The third is Supernatural. Actually, it’s a bit of a tie between Supernatural and Charmed.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?

As mentioned above, talking books but also improving my writing and technology skills.

Which popular book/series/character do you wish you could fangirl over but you actually don’t like?

Ha! Hmm…tough one. Cersei from the Game of Thrones series. She’s mean and evil but she’s a strong woman who knows that women don’t get much in her society so she uses what she has to get what she wants. I admire her but I don’t like her.

What has been the most amazing fangirl moment for you? (ex. meeting an author/actor in real life, going to a convention, etc.)

That would be when I met Marlon James and got him to sign my books. That was awesome! I was so exhausted that day, I almost didn’t bother going to the signing.

And like Leah asked me…Show me your fandom merch, any and all fandoms allowed!

Here’s my Hound. The next Funko Pop I want to get is the dancing Groot.

The Hound vinyl figure by Funko

I nominate:

Rose Read

If You Can Read This

Magic of Books

Socially Awkward Bookworm

Susannahh Taylor

My questions:

The top question: What are your top 3 favorite fandoms?

Do you go all out for the fandoms you’re interested in? If so, share some pictures of your merchandise.

If you could hang out with your favorite character for a day, do you think you would get along with them?

Is there anything you would change about the fandoms you’re interested in?

What character from your favorite fandom do you wish to know more about?

And that’s all folks. 🙂

  1. Nice answers! Good call on not reading the third in the Divergent series, by the way. I was super obsessed after reading the first book, and then the second book came out and I was pretty disappointed. When the third book came out, I thought, “Okay, I’ll give the author a chance to make things right.”

She failed terribly at doing so. My goodness, there were so many things wrong with the book! It was like she forgot her characters.

Anyway, I liked your post a lot!
