2016 Reading Wrap-Up: First Quarter

It’s my first reading wrap-up for the year and I’m off to a good start. I didn’t expect this. I thought my reading progress this year would be slow, so I dropped my initial reading goal of 60 books to 30. But now that I’m halfway to meeting the new goal, I think it best to bump it back up to 60.

Yea, March isn’t done yet. But I’m sure I won’t complete anything new before the 31st so I decided to post this wrap up now.

Currently reading

Soledad

Soledad by Angie Cruz. I started this in February and was enjoying it, but I didn’t get very far. I stopped reading because I wasn’t sure if I could highlight passages. The book isn’t mine and I love to highlight while reading; so there’s no way I could continue unless I could highlight because I realized within 3 or so pages that I might love this book and highlight everything.

The Last Days of Magic2

The Last Days of Magic by Mark Tompkins. I started this the same time as Soledad but as intriguing as the story is, there is so much infodump that I got a little turned off. The information is interesting because it shows how detailed this story is but it isn’t integrated well with the story, unfortunately. I’ll continue with it for a while longer, though, because I haven’t gotten very far.

  1. I really need to get around to reading The Night Circus. I’ve been wanting to read it forever and just never got around to it. I also want to check out Crown of Midnight. I’ve been hesitant about it, because I really didn’t like Throne of Glass that much. Everyone swears the series gets better though, so I want to give it another chance.

    1. The Night Circus = YASS!!! Read it!
Crown of Midnight = Umm… I didn’t like Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight wasn’t much better to me. I’ve decided to stop with the series.

  2. This is amazing! I want to start a spreadsheet like this of my own; I’d love to know the data of my reading habits. And you’ve read some great books; I look forward to seeing what you cover in the rest of the year!

  3. So impressive! I went on a trip recently and that’s sucked all my time and energy for reading. Hopefully I can get as much reading done as you did 🙂
