I found this tag on the Youtube channel Fred Weasley Died Laughing (awesome channel name) and decided to do it because I want to and am trying to prevent myself from making a summer TBR because I never read what I put on those things. But I’ll probably do it anyways. Well, anywho, here’s the tag.
What was the last book you marked as ‘read’?
THAT would be the first book I’ve ever read by Robin Hobb — Assassin’s Apprentice. I’ve been searching for a story like this since the beginning of the year and finally, FINALLY I found it. It sucked me in, man. It made me forget where I was, what I was supposed to do…it held my attention and didn’t let me go. Even now when it’s done it refuses to let me go. I can’t wait to start the next book.
What are you currently reading?
Well, I’m supposed to be reading Witches of East End but I sorta lost interest in it. All the characters are too beautiful to be believed, but I might return. It’s a quick read and Freya might charm me back.
What was the last book you marked as ‘TBR’?
Diane Arbus: Portrait of a Photographer by Arthur Lubow. I’ve been curious about Arbus since watching Fur and I like her photos as well. I’d like to read Lubow’s biography of her to learn more about who she was.
I more recently (just a few hours ago) added lost in language & sound by Ntozake Shange because of this great review of it on Les Reveries de Rowena.
What book do you plan to read next?
Umm…I really don’t know. I’d like to read When Breathe Becomes Air but I borrowed two books from the library — Cinder and Wired to Create — so maybe I should read those first.
Do you use the star rating system?
I sure do because I like clicking them. But I don’t have a strict system for it. My star rating is based on my enjoyment level, though sometimes I might feel guilty about the rating and add a star only to subtract it later. Whatever star rating is there once my review is up is the final though.
Are you doing a 2016 Reading Challenge?
Yes I am! My plan is to read 60 things this year, meaning books, graphic novels, comics, and mangas. So far, I’ve read 34 stuff. I think it’s best I set a low goal at the beginning of the year and increase it as I read because this challenge thing made me anxious at the start of the year.
Do you have a wishlist?
I kinda do. But I call it “get it soon.” And you know which book I really, really want to get soon? This one:
What book do you plan to buy next?
The one above. And I might pick up The Emperor of the Eight Islands by Lian Hearn because the cover is cool and it’s a fantasy novel set in feudal Japan.
Do you have any favorite quotes, would you like to share a few?
Sure thang! Umm…
“He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee.” — Friedrich Nietzsche
That’s my most favorite one.
Who are your favorite authors?
Hard question to answer and I actually don’t like answering such questions because often this is based on having read one story by the author. Here I’ll list favorite authors, meaning favorite storytellers. Some of them are also my favorite writers. Let’s see…
Tamora Pierce, J.K. Rowling
Elizabeth Gilbert, Marlon James
Robin McKinley, Zora Neale Hurston
George R.R. Martin, Hiromu Arakawa
Have you joined any groups?
I’ve joined lots of groups but hardly actively participate in them. I won’t list them here though. I don’t feel like it.
Who do you tag?
You.
Ah I need to read Assassin’s Apprentice!! Great post!!

Heck yeah, clicking stars is fun! Though I’ve been wishing for years that Goodreads would start implementing a half-stars system 🙂

Lol! Yea, those half stars would be handy.
