Blogger Appreciation Award

blogger-appreciation-award

Thank you Orang-utan Librarian for listing me as one of your favorite bloggers and bestowing this award on my blog. It was really sweet and made me feel as if someone had bought me a bucket of my favorite ice cream just for me. Thanks girl! 😀

I’ll pass this award on to some great bloggers I follow on here. I’ll only select a few. Here are who readily come to mind…

…because they make me laugh.

Orang-utan Librarian

Of course. Her posts are hilarious (except when she’s having a serious discussion) and I love how sarcastic she can be. I highly suggest checking out her Worst YA Novel Plan posts. Start here.

Hey Ashers

Liam is hilarious. What drew me to this blog was his Book Snarks feature, the first of which is on Sarah J. Maas’s Throne of Glass (so funny!). I enjoy reading his book reviews and other posts but, man, those Book Snarks really crack me up. He’s currently working on Book Snark posts for Obsidian by Jennifer Armentrout and though I’m not familiar with the book, his posts make me want to read it just so I know what he’s talking about.

…because I get recommendations whenever I visit.

The Comic Vault

I love how Jamie writes his reviews and I have received many comic book recommendations from his blog. My favorite posts of his are the Beneath the Pages features, where he focuses on a comic book writer or artist. I think that’s a great way to learn of new people to check out or to pick up new information on an artist you’re already familiar with. I suggest checking out his most recent one on Jim Lee.

Bookidote

Operated by Trang and Lashaan, this is one of the most aesthetically pleasing blogs I follow on here. I love the graphics and variety of posts. I highly recommend visiting and taking a look. The layout makes everything very easy to find, too, which I appreciate the most whenever I visit a blog. Also, they offer great recommendations on fantasy/sci-fi novels and comics. Lashaan is partly to blame for me getting The Killing Joke, which I plan to read very soon.

The Bibliosanctum

I had to include these ladies because I love their content. They review sci-fi and fantasy novels and I almost always add a book to my Goodreads TBR whenever I visit.

…because I love the variety of posts.

The Green Onion Blog

I’m so glad to have discovered this blog last year. It’s also a great source for comics and fantasy/sci-fi book recommendations. I love his content and that there’re a variety of posts for me to look forward to, like the Top 10 lists and Pop Culture History posts. Check ‘em out!

Milliebot Reads

Another blogger I discovered last year, I enjoy visiting Milliebot Reads because I’m always guaranteed a beautiful book whenever I visit. My favorite posts of hers is the Judging a Book by Its Cover feature, where she focuses on how a book is packaged. I like all the small details she focuses on that we see and appreciate, but still often glaze over. Here’s the most recent one.

…because I love their personality.

Rose Read

I have to include Rose on this list too. Her posts are funny and her discussion pieces and reviews are insightful. I certainly enjoy visiting her blog.

Captain’s Quarters

Captain’s Quarters is of course in this section. The pirate persona is maintained in all posts and even when commenting on other blogs. It’s very entertaining. The blog is great as well. There are a variety of posts that all have titles related to ships or sailing and such, like Broadsides (a term that refers to the side of a ship, but is also used for a large sheet of paper printed on one side only), which are author features. The most recent was on Neil Gaiman.

I could keep going, but I’ll stop here for now. I follow a lot of bloggers on here whose work I appreciate for a variety of reasons. There are some I visit because I love how they write and others I visit because they read books very different from my selection and still others I visit because they challenge the way I think or simply give me inspiration or tend to focus on topics that aren’t often discussed on book blogs.

I admire the work of many bloggers and I try to show my appreciation by visiting and commenting when I can or just liking a post when I have nothing to say but simply agree with the person’s opinion or the books and other content featured in their posts.

I hope you all are also proud of the work you produce on your blogs because all of this takes time and effort and if you should look over your old posts, you will see how much you’ve improved over the time you’ve been blogging. I do that sometimes and am surprised at how much my writing has changed and how much I’ve learned.

So we should all feel appreciated and proud of our work. I bestow this award to the bloggers I listed to above and also to all the bloggers and vloggers I follow because I think you all do great work.

😀

  1. I’m blushing to death over here, Zezee; thank you so much! It’s great to know my snark gives you the lols. My dream is realized.

Three cheers for the Orang-utan Librarian and the lols she offers, too! And I wholly agree with your other nominations (except for the few I hadn’t heard of before, which I’m about to go investigate.)

I’ll be interested to hear what you think of The Killing Joke after you’ve read it. It has (in my opinion) upsetting misogynistic content, which has sparked some great critical discussions about how women are portrayed and used in comics and other media. I’d highly recommend you check some of the discussion out afterward, if you think you’d find that interesting! Either way, I’m looking forward to your future review. =)

    1. Haha aww! Made you blush. 🙂
Yes, check out the other bloggers too.
I’d love to check out those critical discussions, if I end up liking or hating the comic. Though, from what everyone has said, I think I’ll like it.

  2. Awwwn, man. Got to be illegal to make a guy teary-eyed! Thank you so much for the shout out. I really appreciate it. I’m glad that Bookidote is something that entertains you in various ways. I’m always happy to hear that my reviews/praise helps people discover them as well. Also really glad that you got The Killing Joke partly because of me. As a huge Batman fan, I couldn’t recommend it more. Really hope you’ll love is as much as I did.

P.S. If you ever decide to watch the animated adaptation (because you’ll love the graphic novel so much that you’ll want to get MORE out the story) with Mark Hamill returning as the Joker and Kevin Conroy returning as Batman (if you did not know THEY are HIGHLY praised and LOVED), please do not take the first 30 minutes too seriously (it’s an added storyline that was ABSOLUTELY unnecessary). The real magic begins when you see the puddle of water. 😉
