Aentee, the creative bloggess behind Read at Midnight, has created another awesome readathon that I want to participate in (and will actually read books for).
Last year at the height of the Pokemon Go craze, she hosted the Pokemon Indigo League #ReadThemAllThon, which greatly appealed to me because I loved the Pokemon TV show. I made a TBR for the Pokemon readathon but didn’t have time to read any of the books, so I failed. But that won’t happen this time! I intend to be a Mage by the end of this Reading Quest.
Let me back up and explain.
This year Aentee is hosting a Reading Quest, where readers (I’ll call us “heroes”) embark on a journey to conquer their TBR pile through a series of stages. The quest is for 4 weeks, starting Sunday, August 13, and ending Sunday, September 10.
Heroes must choose one of the following paths:
I, of course, have decided to be a Mage:
As wielders of spells and witchcraft, these players will conjure and summon their way through the First Down path on the quest. Their tomes contain magic and whispers of alternate lands.
And, if I’m lucky and can fit in more books, I’ll be a Knight too. (I’ll be like Alanna of Trebond from the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce.)
These players are warriors skilled in direct combat. On their quest, they are will fight their way through the First Across path. The stages within this path are inspired by action and weaponry.
To find out what quests you should complete to qualify for your chosen character, you must refer to the Quest Board.
There is more information about prizes and earning points for your character, which you can read about in Aentee’s announcement.
By far, this is the most creative readathon I’ve seen since blogging. Kudos to Aentee for creating it!
Since I also plan to participate in the Tome Topple Readathon, August 4 – 17, and the next Bout of Books Readathon, August 21 – 27, I’ll include the books I read for those in this and vice versa.
Here’s a tentative TBR I created for the Mage path. It’s subject to change as soon as I start the readathon (lol!).
The First Book of a Series
Kings of the Wyld
Mythago Wood
I’m reading Kings of the Wyld for Tome Topple. If I complete it early, I’ll read Mythago Wood.
A Book Set in a Different World
Birthright, Vol. 1: Homecoming
I think this is set in a different world. 😕
A Book Based on Mythology
Ramayana
An illustrated children’s book based in Hindu mythology
A Book That Contains Magic
The Wingsnatchers
I have an ARC and have yet to read it; so I will for the readathon.
A Book With a One-Word Title
Saga, Vol. 4
‘Cause I need to catch up.
As for the Knight, here’s what I might read:
The First Book of a Series
Same as above. We are allowed to use the same book for the corner quests.
A Book with a Verb in its Title
A Land Called Tarot
It’s a silent graphic novel.
A Book with a Weapon on Its Cover
Lady Mechanika, Vol. 2: The Tablet of Destinies
Another comic book to catch up on.
A Book with a Red Cover
The Fishermen
It’s long overdue that I read this.
A Book That Has a TV/Movie Adaptation
Wolf Children
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
I’m reading Wolf Children for Tome Topple, but if I finish it before the Reading Quest starts, I’ll read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Aentee sure does have quite the graphic designing skill though! Can’t stop being impressed by what she designs. I honestly thought this readathon was made by some super famous person or even publishers, huge points for originality! Hope you enjoy the books you’ll read. Kings of the Wyld is also on my TBR, that thing has only known raving reviews!

Oh someone else did the graphic design but Aentee is great at coming up with these concepts for reading events. This one is my favorite by far.

I thought something similar, only that I’d be like Keladry of Mindelan if I do the quest! I’m seriously temped to try because it looks like such fun!

Aww Keladry was cool. I loved how calm she is.
You should def do it. Since it’s for about 3 weeks, you get a longer time to read stuff.

That’s great! I only completed 1 book so far this weekend but it was for the Tome Topple readathon. I guess I’ll start the Reading Quest a day late. I didn’t get any reading done today.
