I Heart Characters! #7: A Three in One Deal

I Heart Characters! is a weekly meme hosted by Dani at Perspective of a Writer to share our love of great characters. Each week, Dani will assign a topic/type of character that we must find examples of in the various media we consume (books, TV shows, movies, comics, podcasts, etc.).

August 2nd topic:

Super’natural’ hottie

(Literally a character who is drop dead gorgeous and from a supernatural race or, less literally, a sexually diverse character who is a hottie…)

Sawyer Silver

I don’t know if Sawyer is supernatural; I’ve always thought of him as mortal. But since this category calls for the supernatural, I decided to go with a story about that that features a hottie, hence SAWYER SILVER! 😀 Isn’t he gorg?!

Sawyer Silver is a character from the Rat Queens comics, a fantasy series about female mercenaries. He’s the boyfriend (I think) of one of tthe characters. Rat Queens is a fun story that I enjoyed reading. So far, I’ve made it through volumes 1 and 2. I’ve always planned to continue with it, but have yet to do so.

August 9th topic:

A brainiac

(A super smart character! Could be clever, sly, book smart, manipulative, if they apply their brain power, it counts.)

How about a whole team of them?

Definitely the team of FBI profilers from the Criminal Minds TV series. I love watching them work on a case and formulate their profile of the criminals.

August 16th topic:

Creature you’d want to adopt

(An animal or creature character you’d want as a companion)

an artist wasp

A wasp that creates artistic masterpieces but paralyzes you while it dramatically dies if you don’t praise its work. Lol!! I love it! The artistic wasp appears in Nnedi Okorafor’s Akata Witch, a YA fantasy novel set in Nigeria about an albino girl who learns she has magical powers.

Let me know which characters you would choose for these topics.

  1. Hey Zezee! I’m not sure where my comment is! I know I posted one when you first wrote this… I LOVE the wasp artist as you know because I chose it too 😉 I also love Criminal Minds!! That is an excellent team to choose. And I can totally see why Sawyer Silver is taken!

    1. It’s so weird. I went I checked my spam folder and saw it there. Dunno how it ended up there.
Lol I remembered the wasp when I saw your post. It’s one of my fav fantasy creatures.
Criminal Minds is so good. I like to marathon it though doing so can sometimes make one a bit paranoid.

  2. Omg, that book with the wasp sounds wild 😀 In a good way 🙂
And hell yeah, Sawyer IS indeed a hottie! I love the last pic. I put that series on my list, so I can start it after I’m caught up with ‘Saga’.

    1. Lol Akata Witch is a fun YA read. It leans more toward the lower end of YA, almost middle-grade.
Oh yes, Sawyer is indeed. 😀 It’s a fun story. I’ve only read volumes 1 & 2 and I enjoyed them both. It was very popular when it came out, but the illustrator of volume 1 was involved in a domestic abuse case and many readers decided not to support the comics because of that (especially since the story is about female empowerment). The artist was changed midway through volume 2. I’m not sure how the story was affected by volume 3.

  3. Hey Zezee!!! You know I LOVE that wasp artist! In fact I wish Della was a little more present in the second book but she is still an incredible pet character to me… And I LOVE that you shared a television group of characters!! They are a super smart group and I love shows with cases… its an easy thing to unwind to. BUT SAWYER SILVER!! He is so great!! Hahahah I love that you are uncertain he was a boyfriend?! He looks like a lady’s man for sure. I can see why you love that little comic! ❤️
