Fall Tag

It’s gonna be all book tags from now until HALLOWEEN 😀 😀 !!!

It’s now one of my favorite times of the year: Fall. I can dig out my boots from the back of my closet and pull them on and shop for interesting blazers to pair with them (haven’t found any yet though 😦 ). The leaves are turning, the temperature is dropping, and today there’s a fine, misty rain permeating my area making it seem a bit foggy outside. I love it all.

I love it because I’m inside and so am not outside freezing my ass off and getting wet. I love it because this is perfect weather for reading while cozily snuggled in a corner or on my bed or next to a window sipping hot chocolate or tea. I love it because this is great atmosphere for watching a scary movie. It will contribute to the fright and I know I’ll be thoroughly scared by it all. This weekend will be great.

Fall Tag

I was tagged for the Fall Tag by Emily at Embuhlee liest, my Hobb-a-long buddy-reader — we’re buddy-reading Robin Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings books. The tag was created by The Life of Kristyn.

Which two things tell you that the Fall season has begun?

Leaves turning: For me, Fall doesn’t begin until the leaves begin to turn and fall of the trees. That’s what signals the season for me.

Awful cold, rainy weather: I do not like cold and rain when I’m out in it, but it signals a change in the season for me too.

What are your plans for this Fall season?

Working my ass off at a BOOKSTORE!!! 😀 It’s my dream to work in a bookstore and FINALLY I’ll be able to do that for the holidays. So excited!

Also, buying books, reading books, and hopefully finding time to write something other than blog posts.

Silent nights or windy ones?

Windy nights, but only if I’m inside and cozy and warm. 🙂

Cold rain or heavy fog. What do you enjoy more?

Heavy fog. It’s spookier and magical.

What three things do you love about the season?

Beautiful trees: I love the colors of the leaves.

Sexy boots to wear: I love boots! Tall, short, high, flat, all colors, styles, and textures.

Halloween: because of scary movie marathons

What three things do you hate about the season?

The cold: I hate the cold

The cold and the dark: I hate shorter daylight and the cold.

The cold and rain: I hate being cold and wet.

Share your best memory for the Fall season?

I won’t go into details, but every year that I’ve attended Howard University Homecoming has been great. (I’m missing it this year 😥 ’cause I gotta work.)

What is your favorite scent for the Fall season?

Apple pie. Oh I love the smell of apple pie baking in the oven. Yum, yum! 🙂

What is your favorite Fall movie?

Idle Hands

It’s not my favorite, but it’s been on my mind a lot because Halloween is almost here. I’d love to rewatch it. It was one of my fav “scary” movies when I was younger.

What is your favorite Fall color?

gamboge

According to Merriam-Webster:

“Gamboge, also spelled camboge, can be used to describe the vivid yellows of autumn. The name of the color refers to a gum resin from southeast Asian trees that is used as a yellow pigment in art and as a purgative in medicine. The resin is orange to brown in color but when pulverized turns bright yellow.

Gamboge is based on New Latin gambogium, an alteration of cambugium, which is either from or akin to the Portuguese name for the country of Cambodia, Camboja. Cambodia also happens to be one of the countries in which the trees producing gamboge are indigenous.”

What is your favorite dress code for the Fall season?

I mentioned this in another post, but my dress code for autumn is boots, blazer/jacket, jeans, cute shirt/sweater, oversize scarf, large purse, light jewelry.

Do you believe that the Fall season should be the wedding season?

I prefer late spring/early summer weddings. The weather is warm and perfect then.

What are your most liked drinks in the Fall season?

Pumpkin-spice latte: I think that’s what it’s called. It tastes like pumpkin and I love it! I get it without the coffee or espresso or whatever it is that gives it the yucky coffee taste. Ugh! Hate coffee, but the pumpkin-spice flavor is so good.

Hot chocolate: Yummy hot chocolate. A good one makes me so blissful and unable to do anything but drink it and go mmhhhmmm…. 🙂

Haunted house or haunted corn maze?

I’ve never been in either, but I’d rather visit a haunted house. It’s easier to think of an escape from a house than from a corn maze where you never know where you’re going.

Wool or knit sweaters?

Knit sweaters, though I don’t mind wool. Knit sweaters are more interesting. (And now I’m thinking of shopping.)

Which moisturizer is your favorite in the autumn season?

Umm… I’m skipping this one. I don’t have a particular one for autumn.

Apple pie or Pumpkin Pie. What’s your favorite?

Apple pie with ice cream. Y’all! The first time I tried this it blew my mind. I’m forever in love with it.

October or November?

November because HOLIDAY!!! 😀 Though I won’t have much of a holiday this year since I’ll be working through it.

Do you dress up for Halloween?

Nah, but I’d like to one of these years. I don’t celebrate Halloween other than getting excited to watch scary movies for it.

What do you feel at the end of the Fall season?

Resignation: There’s no way to avoid the arrival of winter.

Hope you all are enjoying the arrival of autumn. 🙂

  1. Reading this post has made me even happier it’s fall!! Cozy reading, hot chocolate, pretty leaves, heavy fog… so many things to enjoy! Also it made me really want to go out and try a spiced pumpkin latte (I’ve never had one but it sounds amazing). I 100% agree with you about the boots – I used to live somewhere where in never really got cold enough for boots or big scarves so I get extra excited now when I get to pull them out of the cupboard 🙂

Oh and congrats on getting the job in the bookstore!! I’ve always wanted to work in a bookstore too but never managed it. Hope you enjoy it!

    1. Glad it got you happy for fall. It’s one of my fav seasons to dress for. There’s so many options and it’s not too cold that I have to wear many layers.

Thanks! I’ve been trying for years to get a bookstore job so am happy it’s finally happening.

    2. Oh yeah! If you like pumpkin flavor then give the pumpkin spice latte a try. It’s yummy. Also, if like me you don’t like the taste of coffee, you can ask for it without the espresso.

  2. Leaves turning – yes! Boots and knit sweaters – yes! Gurrl…but that working in a bookstore? Its just a justification to handle more new releases and purchase more books at a discount🤣🤣! (still good, though!)

  3. Fun tag! Fall is both my favorite and least favorite time of year because it means winter is coming, lol. Congrats on being able to work at a bookstore! I’ve always wanted to do that too and thought about getting a part time at one for the holidays one year but then didn’t really have the time to commit. Hope you have fun (even though it’s work)!

    1. Thanks! I forgot about the time to commit part until after I got the position. I didn’t expect to get it. But I moved some stuff around and think it should work out. Fingers crossed.

    1. Yea! 😀 I love the colors this time of year. Oh the sucks about the trees. Here, the drawback is that we have to do a lot of raking to get rid of the fallen leaves.

  4. Love this post, especially that lovely pic of the trees with yellow leaves! That’s what I love the most about autumn – the leaves turning colors. I grew up in New Orleans so that didn’t happen so vibrantly. However living in France has made me discover those beautiful, bold colors up close and personal. 🍁🍂

    1. 😮 New Orleans?! I so fascinated by New Orleans! I plan (hope) to visit there next year. I keep thinking that it’ll make me think of the Caribbean. Dunno why that thought is stuck in my head, lol.
I want to visit there for the vibes and culture and architecture.
Oh that’s great that you get more of those colors in France too. 🙂

      1. Well I’m sure there are some similarities too the Caribbean. Haven’t been but it’s from what I’ve been told. While you’re checking out the architecture don’t forget to taste all of our delicious specialties.😋

  5. Ha ha, your last question / answer sums up my feelings about the end of autumn perfectly. Actually, I feel a sense of resignation all season long, just because I know what’s around the corner…

I do like autumnal foods, though. Pumpkin pie (not necessarily pumpkin spice flavored foods, though), apple cider, soups and stews, apple pie… I also love the sweaters I own. And fleece. Fleece blankets, fleece jackets, fleece PJs… Even though I don’t fall the season itself, I guess I do like many of its signature features. 🙂

    1. Lol! IKR. I just hop winter passes by quickly and doesn’t leave much behind.
Lol! You really love your fleece. I love sweaters too. Am here trying to prevent myself from shopping too much. I think I end up doing more clothes shopping for fall than any other season.
