Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Shanah, the Bionic Book Worm.
This week’s topic:
P – Q – R – S – T
(authors whose name begins with the featured letters)
P is for…
Richard Preston
I’ve been debating whether or not to read this book now in light of all that’s happening regarding the coronavirus. I bought it after rewatching the movie Outbreak a couple years ago and deciding that I want to read the book it’s based on. I was hoping to do so this year, but it might make me more worried than I already am.
Q is for…
Matthew Quick
I can’t believe I haven’t yet read this book. I bought it back in 2015, probably the very next day after watching and enjoying the movie… maybe. I just remember that I really liked the movie and then I read a review of the book somewhere and then I bought the book. In my memory, all that happened at the same time, but it could have been spread over days or months. I don’t know. Anyway…
R is for…
Jason Rekulak
Rekulak’s Impossible Fortress is a YA historical fiction novel set in 1987 about a crazy plan a boy and his friends concocted so they can get a copy of Playboy magazine. It has some funny moments and I enjoyed reading it, but it was also a bit repetitious and some parts didn’t work well for me.
S is for…
Alessandro Sanna
Sanna is an Italian painter and The River is his beautifully illustrated children’s book about a town located beside a river. The story is told almost entirely without words and is separated into four parts: one for each season. It’s such a good book and the watercolor paintings are gorgeous.

T is for…
Chuck Hogan
The Strain 🙂 I really like The Strain. It’s a sci-fi novel about a vampire apocalypse (vampire-zombie apocalypse) that begins in New York as a novel virus. Oh man! I really enjoyed it (didn’t like the second book as much though) and it’s one of those books you should probably avoid for now since we’re currently living through an epidemic.
Never read any of these authors but I LOVE the illustrations in that children’s book! Gorgeous.

Is it wrong for me to wish that the coronavirus turned people into vampires? That would be so much more interesting, lol.

Lol! That would be pretty scary too. It makes me think of the Strain book/TV show.
