Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Shanah, the Bionic Book Worm.
This week’s topic:
Top 5 sanity savers — Things I’m enjoying while in isolation
Blogging
I have more time for it. I even managed to get caught up on my reviews. I have a bunch coming out in the next couple days.
Reading
I have more time on my hands, so I was able to read my way out of a reading slump. I’m even doing better than I expected on the OWLs Magical Readathon.
Sims Freeplay
It’s the only video game I play, and I quite like it. It’s relaxing and takes my mind off the craziness in the world. I just build some houses, make up stories in my head, and try to tune out the depressing news reports and crazy conspiracy theories.
Family time
Since I’m stuck inside, I’m spending a lot more time with my family. Also, we had a recent death in the family (unrelated to corona), so that has caused us to reach out more to each other and call family members who are far away a bit more.
Organizing my books
Well, I’m attempting to. I started this past weekend and have managed to tidy my shelves a little. It’s very relaxing. I realized that I may have room for a few more 🙂 but I’m really at my limit though.
Catching up on all the other T5T posts, better late than never, eh?! 😉
I’m glad Shanah is doing these topics this month, we all need some happy distractions at the moment. I’ve got bogging and reading on my list too, I’m enjoying all the extra reading time and love having my family home. I’m sorry to hear about your loss and I’m glad that you and your family are there (albeit by phone) to support each other. My eldest daughter loves playing Sims but she’s been on at me to buy a switch so that she can play Animal Crossing – perhaps Xmas 😉
Stay safe & healthy. x

🙂 Thanks Flora.
I need to catch up on reading posts too. I was hoping to do so this weekend, but I’ve been busy. Animal Crossing is very popular now. I know a few folks who seem to like it a lot.
Hope you and your fam are doing well.

Great list of things to keep your mind off things. I think I’m enjoying keeping busy? LOL I need to get back to having normal ‘relaxation’ time.

Lol! I think busy is helpful these days. Can help prevent too much worrying.

I’ve been able to catch up on reading, blogging, book reviews, and TV/movies. It has been nice to have more reading time. I’ve also been able to do more crafting.

That’s really good. Your mention of crafting makes me want to fit in some drawing time this weekend. I’d like to get back to doing some art.

I hate my Macbook and its updated OS because it won’t let me play The Sims 3!

I have a PC, but I have trouble running Sims on it. So far, I’m enjoying the Freeplay tho.

I’m jealous! I’m stuck at home and find myself with less time to read and blog. I’m also acting as substitute teacher and working from home… my daughter is doing lots of arts and crafts and sketching.

Sounds like you have your hands full.
That’s a great idea – arts &craft and sketching. I’m gonna try to get back into drawing too, if I can fit it in.

My daughter is much better than I am. I keep asking myself when did this happen?! lol. But yes it’s a handful.

I should really arrange my books, too, but it freaks me out thinking about it. Stay safe!

Totally understand what you mean. That’s how I felt too. Mine wasn’t too disorganize so it wasn’t bad but I dreaded it before starting.

I bake a lot, and tend to my garden, and spend all the time with my family 😀

That’s good. I was telling my mom that she has more time for gardening now, but she’s yet to get back into it.

I loved seeing the Sims on your list. I didn’t even think about including them on mine. I’ve started playing the mobile version but it doesn’t quite live up to Freeplay.

I was thinking to go mobile, but am still stuck on the Freeplay. It’s such fun.

Freeplay”s definitely better, but if you”re going to try Mobile, there’s the option to keep the two games separate, so I suppose that works in its favour

I’ve tried to play some video games as well, but even working from home I don’t have time to do anything, lol. Mainly because we have so much more work now with all the financial impact. Lawyer Bar has also been organizing lots of online conferences that take up half of the working day. D:
But this weekend will be a looking one! So I really hope I can play some more Neverwinter or even EverQuest II.

I know what it’s like to be super busy with no time for something fun, so I hope you do get some free time this weekend.
