Well, this is more the top 5 series to pop in my head when I thought of this topic.

Inheritance trilogy

I’ve yet to read anything by N.K. Jemisin but when I do, I’d like to start with The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, the first novel in her Inheritance trilogy, which seems to be of the fantasy genre. I want to start with her fantasy stuff before going sci-fi.
