Christmas Eve Book Tag

It’s my favorite time of year, and despite how busy I’ve been lately, I am very happy because some wonderfully amazing things have been happening that I didn’t expect. I keep pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming about having achieved a major goal.

My plan was to bring the Christmas cheer to my blog by doing Christmas-themed book tags all week, but I wasn’t feeling well the past 2 days, so I wasn’t able to post anything yesterday.

BUT! I’m back in the Christmas spirit now, so I’ll kick things off with the Christmas Eve Book Tag — since it is Christmas Eve. It was created by booktuber Sam’s Nonsense, whose channel introduced me to Robin Hobb’s books. I found this tag over on Embuhleelist, my buddy-reader in all things Hobb — and now Joe Abercrombie, lol.

Christmas Eve Morning: What is a book you wake up excited to read? (It can either be one you anticipate reading or one you read in the past that you want to get back into.)

Velvet comic book series by by Ed Brubaker, illus. by Steve Epting

I’ve read the first and second volumes and would like to reread them and then round out the series by completing the third. It’s sort of a mystery comic book series about a woman working at a secret agency who’s framed for a murder. I enjoyed it and was hooked.

Christmas Eve Breakfast: What are your favorite treats during the holiday season?

Cakes and ice cream 😊

I love all the cakes that pop up around this time, especially rum cake, of course. My family also always makes cornmeal pudding, which I LOVE even more than rum cake because it’s sooo good. Ugh! I also love the apple pie a la mode, which is new to me, but I’m in love with it. Apple pie is probably the only pie I’ll ever like, and I love ice cream. Yum! (None of those are featured above, but the cake in the photo looks scrumptious too.)

Family Time: What is a book that fills you with happiness and love, or the warm fuzzies in general?

Tea Dragon series by Kay O’Neill (illus.)

These days, that would be the Tea Dragon books — middle grade fantasy graphic novels about a society of people who care for miniature dragons that grow tea leaves from their horns. It’s such a sweet, heartwarming story that gives me warm fuzzies. The illustrations are so cute! Love them.

Christmas Carols: What are your favorite Christmas carols or holiday songs?

I don’t have favorite Christmas carols or holiday songs, but I do like listening to choirs sing “O, Holy Night.”

Anticipation: What is a book release you are very much anticipating?

The next book in the Nevermoor series.

I recently reread the ones that currently out and really enjoyed my time doing so.

You hear sleigh bells on the roof and are so excited you can’t sleep: What is a book that kept you up all night?

The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Although I didn’t have a great reading experience with it, the book did keep me up all night because I was so intent on getting it done and over with.

It’s Christmas morning and Santa has come: What is a book on your wishlist that you hope to unwrap?

The Deep by Mayur Vayeda & Tushar Vayeda (illus.)

Until I get a copy of this book, my answer will always be The Deep. I want a copy SO bad!

I wish you all a wonderfully merry Christmas. 😊
