Top 5 Tuesday #70: Series I Haven’t Finished

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah, the Bionic Book Worm, and now hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads.

This week’s topic:

Top 5 series I haven’t finished

(What series haven’t you finished yet (or caught up to date on if it’s ongoing) that you meant to?)

There are MANY series I need to finish. Actually, I think I need to do one of those series-read projects I see people doing where you list the many series you’re in the middle of and read to complete or catch up on them. But, for now, here are 5 I’d like to complete.

First Law series by Joe Abercrombie

Currently working through this with Emily from Embuhleeliest. I completed the second book a couple weeks or so ago and enjoyed seeing how certain characters are developing.

Discworld series by Terry Pratchett

I’m really enjoying this series and intend to read and collect them all. Hopefully, I’ll read at least three more of them this year.

Robert Langdon series by Dan Brown

I temporarily DNF’d the third book — The Lost Symbol — last year because I wasn’t in the mood for it, so fingers crossed that I pick up and complete it this year.

Diviners series by Libba Bray

Currently working through this with Rachel at Life of a Female Bibliophile. We plan to start and complete the fourth and last book this year.

Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells

I’ve only read the first novella so far and would LOVE to continue with and complete the series. Murderbot is such a fun character to read about.

Sooo… are you behind on series too?

I hope you are. Misery loves company, lol!

  1. Ugh, I’m terrible about finishing series. Partly I just don’t want them to end. Partly I just enjoy starting them, get excited, enjoy starting another and rinse and repeat. Then, as I think we’ve chatted about before, in an effort to “catch up” I reread the books in the series I’ve already read, in order to complete….then, never move further in the series after all. LOL Ohhhh, wellllll….. (I think I’ve read four Discworlds. I loved them, but, oh you know.)

  2. Think Discworld might be on this one in a year’s time too…

I’ve been thinking of getting in on the Langdons. He’s clearly doing something right. I watched the movie version of the first, and it was decent enough that I might pick up the first book soon.

    1. Lol! At the rate I’m going, most likely the Discworld will be.
The story is interesting. I like all the references to art and history and such. Some things are a bit far-fetched, which I think is what turned off those who dislike these books, but they are fast-paced and very entertaining.

      1. I’ll consider him for the non-genre authors to try list then. I like some far out there shit sometimes.

And yes, this is the way. Binge the Discworld, then binge it again.

  3. Ha, misery definitely loves company! I’m behind on Murderbot too — I’ve read the first four novellas, but didn’t pick up the novel, and now I feel like I’d have to start over before I could continue. I want to keep reading Discworld too, and I’m hoping to finish the Expanse and the Witcher series this year. Good luck with your series reading!

  4. The Murderbot Diaries are so fantastic, I just love that series. I think I’m one book before right now. A couple other series I’m not caught up on but would like to be are the recently translated Legends of the Condor Heroes series by Jin Yong. I own them all but have only read the first. Another is the Black City Saint series by Richard Knaak, of which I own two but have only read the first. It’s a fun urban fantasy set in modern times and starring Saint George who slew the dragon (sort of).

    1. Hope you’re able to get caught up on them. I owned the second of the Condor Heroes books but gave it away since I hadn’t yet read the first and wasn’t sure if I would.

  5. I absolutely ADORE the Discworld series, so I hope you love them as you get to them. Are you reading them in publication order, or doing mini sets at a time?
Hope you had fun this week 💕

  6. Hope you finish The First Law soon. Then there are two more trilogies featuring some of the same characters!!!!!!!! I really need to read the Murderbot books. I love her other books.

  7. I think I made it three books into the Diviners series, but never finished it. I want to, but I got sidetracked with other books. Now I’m at the point where I’ll need to reread the first three books before I do finish!
