Top 5 Tuesday #84: Just One Word

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah, the Bionic Book Worm, and now hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads.

This week’s topic:

Top 5 books with one word titles

(We’re aiming for brevity this week!)

The following are a few books I own and have read that have one-word titles. Seems that I’ve decided to just focus on the ones that begin with D.

Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey
Dominicana by Angie Cruz
Dopesick by Beth Macy
Deep by Rivers Solomon
DCeased by Tom Taylor

Dragonflight is the first in a fantasy series about people who bond with dragons… and much more. (Basically I can’t quickly say what it’s about because a) I read it a while ago, and b) I didn’t like it.)

Dominicana is historical fiction about a 15-year-old girl who immigrates from Dominican Republic to NYC in the mid-1960s with her much-older husband in hopes of helping her family back home.

Dopesick is a well-written and -researched nonfiction book about the opioid crisis.

Deep is a fantasy novella that touches on what happened to the slaves who took their lives by jumping overboard slave ships.

DCeased is the first in a series about a zombie apocalypse that takes place in the DC superhero universe.

Let me know if you’ve read any of these.

  1. The Deep has been tottering around on my TBR forever. Maybe soon.

I liked Dragonflight. Not sure how I’d feel about it now. Maybe I’ll revisit that soon too.
