Mid-Year Book Freak-Out Tag: 2021

It’s been such a long time since I’ve done a book tag that I feel as if I don’t know my blogging self anymore. Zezee with Books LOVES book tags! I should be doing one every week! But I can’t even remember when last I declared a book tag week. Things are getting out of hand here.

Well.

June is almost over, so I intend to do the usually end-of-June book tags that help me reflect on my reading progress so far.

I’ll start with the Mid-Year Book Freak-Out Tag, which was created by Chami and Ely Jayne.

Best book I’ve read so far

In the Garden of Spite by Camilla Bruce

It’s historical fiction about a female serial killer and it’s a superbly fantastic, though at time disturbing, read. It is a thriller that borders on horror, and it is very well written and atmospheric and immersive too. It is a great read that I highly recommend. (See my review here.)

Wyrd & Wonder Wednesday: So Many Things! Oh, my.

For the month of May, my Wednesdays on here are dedicated to the Wyrd & Wonder Challenge. I’ll share my picks for the topics that pop up in the current week on the Wednesday. Most likely, the picks will be repeats of what I post on Instagram (that’s if I manage to post anything on IG).

For this post, I’ll do the challenge topics for May 23-31. So, here it goes!

Book rainbow…

So pretty 😊

Wyrd & Wonder Wednesday: Beware, the Suck Fairy

For the month of May, my Wednesdays on here are dedicated to the Wyrd & Wonder Challenge. I’ll share my picks for the topics that pop up in the current week on the Wednesday. Most likely, the picks will be repeats of what I post on Instagram (that’s if I manage to post anything on IG).

For this post, I’ll do the challenge topics for May 16-22. So, here it goes!

Page to screen…

It’s the Princess Bride for me.

The Princess Bride by William Goldman is one of my favorite fantasy books and movie adaptations. I saw the movie first and immediately loved it, and it was the same when I read the book years after that. I’ve seen the movie several times since then and continue to enjoy it; however, it’s been a couple years since I last reread the book.

Wyrd & Wonder Wednesday: Desert Island Reads

For the month of May, my Wednesdays on here are dedicated to the Wyrd & Wonder Challenge. I’ll share my picks for the topics that pop up in the current week on the Wednesday. Most likely, the picks will be repeats of what I post on Instagram (that’s if I manage to post anything on IG).

For this post, I’ll do the challenge topics for May 9-15. So, here it goes!

For Mother’s Day…

I’ll highlight Molly Weasley

Because she’s the first character to pop in mind when I thought of this topic. It’s probably the same answer I gave in the past on similar topics, but I really couldn’t think of anyone else, and she is a fantastic character.

Wyrd & Wonder Wednesday: Begin

For the entire month of May, Wednesdays will be dedicated to the Wyrd & Wonder Challenge because I like throwing up triple Ws — W&WW. I’ll share my picks for the topics that pop up in the current week on the Wednesday.

The picks in these posts might be repeats of what I post on Instagram for the challenge… that’s if I manage to post anything on IG. I’m always unprepared when it comes to challenges on IG.

So, for the first week of Wyrd & Wonder (May 1-8), I have here:

We’re going on an adventure…

…with The Jumbies by Tracey Baptiste

For this category, we are to share our TBR for our W&W adventure, which I actually did on IG (here) and in this post on my blog. Neither one has the Jumbies in it, yet it’s the first book I picked up for W&W. Smh, I’ve already gone off course.

Never Have I Ever Book Tag

I wasn’t planning to post another book tag this week. I’m in high reading spirit, but I’m not in the mood to draft reviews or anything else, so… a book tag it is! 😀

And this is another tag that I was actually tagged for! Yeahie!! 😀

I was tagged by Lisa at Way Too Fantasy for this tag that I’ve never done before. 🤣🤣 (Yep, cracking myself up here.) It was created by Madame Writer/Anne With a Book.

Apparently, there are rules:
  1. Link back to the original creator! (Madame Writer)
  2. Link back to the person who tagged you!
  3. Answer all prompts.
  4. Add one more prompt of your own.
  5. Tag at least five people.
  6. Don’t lie.
  7. Have fun!

Never Have I Ever… read a later book in a series before reading the first book.

Meet the Book Blogger Tag

It’s been a while since I’ve done a tag that I was actually tagged for because I tend to procrastinate on all things, like the good procrastinator that I am.

But, since I’d like to procrastinate a bit more on doing book reviews, here’s the Meet the Book Blogger Tag!! 😀 I was tagged for it by Aaron at Swords & Spectres. The tag was created by Samantha and Amber, the Bibliomavens.

Who is your all-time favourite book character?

I Hate Spring Book Tag

spring flowers

If, unlike me, your body hasn’t alerted you to spring’s arrival with a suddenly stuffy nose, sinus headache, and your eyes threatening to itch although the trees haven’t yet started to spread their pollen around yet, then consider yourself lucky. I have a love/hate relationship with spring. I’m always grateful for its arrival after suffering through the harsh, cold, drab months of winter. My heart sings with the lengthening of the days and the hint of warmth in the air and is comforted (sometimes) by the beat of its rains. But I also suffer.

I sneeze. I sniff. I cough. I itch. My head pounds until I find a way to alleviate clogged nasal passages, and I sometimes spend days in fear of touching my eyes because doing so might make the itching worse to the point where I can’t open them. This wasn’t always the case. For years, I could enjoy spring without suffering. Then, suddenly, one year in college the seasonal allergies overtook me and I’ve been suffering through spring ever since…

And… that’s my sob story about spring. Now you understand why I’m doing this tag.

The I Hate Spring Book Tag was created the Biblionyan.

Time Tantrum: Name a book — either a standalone or from a series — that had large time lapses that frustrated you greatly.

I’m the only person I know who loves the time change, lol. After suffering through winter, I’m glad that I wake up with the sun twinkling in my eyes.

Books I Want to Read (But Don’t Want to Read) Tag

And here we are at the final tag for this BOOK TAG WEEK!!

It wraps up my weeklong birthday celebration, which, unfortunately, did not involve pancakes. But there’s hope for the weekend.

The Books I Want to Read Tag was created by Jamishelves. Since these are books on my TBR that I haven’t read, I won’t give brief descriptions of the plot as I usually do.

Spyro Book Tag

My weeklong birthday celebration BOOK TAG WEEK continues! 😀

This time, as a throwback to my childhood, I’ve decided to do the Spyro Book Tag, which was created by Tânia at My Lovely Secret. I found the tag over on Kristin Kraves Books a couple years ago and knew I had to do it one day. I loved the Spyro the Dragon video game as a kid, although I sucked at it. Still, it was fun and it’s centered on a dragon, and I love dragons!

Well, enough reminiscing. To the tag!
