Bout of Books 14: Update 7

It’s almost the end of Day 7 of Bout of Books 14. I’ve decided to do my wrap up now because I plan to turn in early, plus I’ll be too busy tomorrow to do it then. I spent most of today cleaning so I didn’t get much reading done. When I did read, I read a book that wasn’t listed on my Bout of Books reading list, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I’ve been in and out of the doldrums lately so I’ve turned to Harry Potter to cheer me up.

Also, I learned something new today about Bout of Books, though it’s at a late time. Apparently we could post our reading updates to the website. Ha! I didn’t know this; or, if I did, I forgot. Sucks for me but at least I know now. Better late than never, eh.

As for my overall progress, I think I did okay. Just to rehash, my goal was to read in a different place each day and to read a total of 12 books, graphic novels, and story story, one of which I had already started, over the 7 days of the event. I predicted that I’d read all the graphic novels and the short story, complete 1 novel and the book I started before the read-a-thon. The result was pretty close.

Bout of Books 14: Update 6

Yesterday was Day 6 of Bout of Books 14 and I’m late with the update. You see, I was tired. Exhausted, actually. I’ve started to workout a bit and run in the mornings to build up my stamina in case a herd of cows stampede through Washington D.C. I need to be able to outrun them. My body was tender from exercising and I made it tired by walking around the downtown area. Then I went to the zoo and was exhausted by the time I left. For me, that’s a lot for one day so I didn’t get much reading done.

Saturday, Day 6 progress

Bout of Books 14: Update 5

Yesterday was Day 5 of Bout of Books 14 but I was too tired to post anything. It was much better than Day 4. I read. The day was good. The sun was shinning, and I was smiling a bit more; though that was probably because I went for a run in the morning. Working out really does make you feel better. Yeah for endorphins. Anyways, the books.

Bout of Books 14: Update 4

Bout of Books 14 Day 4 has come and gone and I didn’t get much reading in. It was a cloudy day. The rain tempted to fall in hard, relentless sheets, but all it did was drizzle a few drops while thick clouds rolled across the sky, blocking the sun, and the big guy who lives in the heavens rearranged his furniture causing deep rumbling that made me quiver in anticipation.

Nothing came and I was melancholy all day. Just glum and listless. I spent most of my time standing around wondering what I should do and feeling horrible that I’m doing nothing and going nowhere. Then I looked at the clock. It’s 4 p.m. The day had just started but quickly it’s done and it’s already nearly tomorrow. Thursday, August 21, 2015: the quickest day I’ve lived all year.

Bout of Books 14: Update 3

Day 3 of the Bout of Books 14 read-a-thon is done and I finally understand the name of the event. Haha, yea, I’m slow. I was saying to myself that “Bout of Books” is an odd name. What do they mean by bout and why does the girl in the picture have a pencil in her mouth and a beret-like cap on her head. Is she an artist? It makes no sense. But then it clicked.

The girl has an ice pack on her head and is checking her temperature, and bout refers to her being ill. Haha, I laughed, embarrassed. I’m so slow.

It’s the end of the second day of Bout of Books 14 and, as predicted, it went well. I got a lot reading and travelling done, which proves that if I want to focus on a book, I should travel somewhere. I just love reading in vehicles.

Bout of Books 14: Update 1

Bout of Books 14 has officially begun. I doubt I’ll get through all the material I’ve selected to read but I’ll have fun trying. I’d like to say I started this read-a-thon with a bang, but I didn’t. It’s so hard to tear myself away from the internet and the TV, when the internet is unavailable. But once I settled down to read, I was golden, as long as I didn’t hear any notices from my Ipad or phone. It’s so hard to stay focused when reading at home. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
