Let’s Rewind: June 2020

Things ramped up in June. The movements and protests increased. Corona infections continued to rise (in the U.S.) despite earlier claims that things might get better by now. The wind brought the U.S. a sand cloud from the Sahara, and there was news that there’s a swine flu that could reach pandemic levels (sigh).

Let’s Rewind is my version of a monthly wrap up but instead of talking about only books, I include all types of other stuff, like articles… bookish news… commercials… random-ass links… movies… art… podcasts… cartoons… and whatever else happened to me in the month. You know, the usual stuff that people talk about in monthly wrap ups. So read on to see what I did and read this month. You might stumble upon something that interests you.

Is it just me or are the months starting to run into each other? In my personal life, not much happened in June. I worked. I slept. I ate. I talked to folks. I stayed inside, tried to stay 6 feet away from others when outside, and reminded myself not to touch my face when out and about, which is becoming increasingly difficult. Has that been happening to you?

Let’s Rewind: May 2020

Ah, May. It started off good and was going pretty great, but then things went downhill with the news toward the end.

Let’s Rewind is my version of a monthly wrap up but instead of talking about only books, I include all types of other stuff, like articles… bookish news… commercials… random-ass links… movies… art… podcasts… cartoons… and whatever else happened to me in the month. Despite working from home during the corona crisis, I still crave taking some time off. I just want to check out for a few weeks and go somewhere far removed from current society. I need a break. A break from the current news cycle and the crazy shit going on right now.

You know what? My May was going pretty well. The highest point came on the second-to-last weekend in the month when hip-hop artists Swizz Beatz and Timbaland hosted a Verzuz battle on Instagram featuring two of the most popular Jamaican dancehall artists, Beenie Man and Bounty Killa. That event made my day. It brightened my month even more and brought so much joy to me that I thought the month would end on a high note. But no.

Let’s Rewind: April 2020

April is here and so is the rain. I’m happy for it since I don’t have to be in it every day. **Focusing on the positive.**

April. It wasn’t much better than March. Corona is still on a rampage around the world. I’m constantly worried about my family but try not to think about it too much. Another elderly family member died (unrelated to corona). I spent most of my time inside. I tried to steer older family members away from the MANY conspiracy theories surrounding corona (which was exhausting to do and ineffective). It raaainnneeddd…. a lot. I kept thinking I have corona every time I sneezed, coughed, encountered people at the supermarket, or thought I had a shortness of breath. Ugh!!!….

Let’s Rewind: March 2020

This was the worst birthday month I’ve ever had. 😥

I’m a Pisces, and March is my birthday month. I was excited and looking forward to it. February was chaotic, so March was suppose to be my redemption month: the month when I would get everything back on track. But that didn’t happen.

Let’s Rewind: February 2020

We’re now in March. For some reason, I keep thinking the year is already halfway done. It may be because my job requires me to plan for some events months ahead, so that makes me think time is going by much faster than it is, which is not always good. Anyway…

Let’s Rewind is my version of a monthly wrap up but instead of talking about only books, I include all types of other stuff, like articles… bookish news… commercials… random-ass links… movies… art… podcasts… cartoons… and whatever else happened to me in the month. So, February happen. January was hectic, but I had a schedule and it was working for me. Then February came along and threw everything into chaos by getting me sick (sore throat and fever). I was down and out for a few days. No job, no exercise. Just rest… although I didn’t really rest. I have so much going on that I took one of those days off to run a few errands, but the illness caught up with me and convinced me to stay my ass in bed — meaning I felt so drained that I gave in and stayed in bed for a few days.

Let’s Rewind: January 2020

Okay, so January. Right.

The year got off on a slow, shaky start, but I think I’m good now.

Yo, January was kinda rough. In my blogging life, it wasn’t bad because most of my posts were reflections on the previous year, and I love writing those. I had fun blogging, although I felt a little guilty that my reviews queue was piling up. My reading life, however, got off on a slow start. I spent the first couple weeks of January not reading anything and DNF’ing what I did start, but thank the bookish gods for audiobooks because they got me out of my slow funk and got my reading momentum going.

Let’s Rewind: December 2019

It’s a few days before the end of December and although I hate to hurry the end of the year, I thought I’d go ahead and post my wrap up now since I doubt I’ll start and complete another book before the end of the year. Plus, I have loads of other things to post, like my favorite books of 2019 and my reading stats! 🙂

Let’s Rewind is my version of a monthly wrap up but instead of talking about only books, I include all types of other stuff, like articles… bookish news… commercials… random-ass links… movies… art… podcasts… cartoons… and whatever else happened to me in the month. I didn’t blog much in December. The month began in a rush. The busyness of November spilled over into December. I was doing so much that I barely had time for myself. Things began to slow down the week before Christmas and although I made goals to publish posts on here, I didn’t get around to them. Christmas came along and family was in town and I just didn’t feel like doing anything except read, sleep, and recuperate my strength.

Let’s Rewind: November 2019

November was all work and hardly any play, so I’m glad it’s December; although it seems that December is shaping up to be the same.

This is what my November felt like:

Let’s Rewind: October 2019

Blogging hasn’t been going great lately. I was in a blogging slump in October and now I’m participating in NaNoWriMo, which was unexpected, so I’ll have less time to blog in November and am barely managing to read any books. Super busy this month, y’all!

I’ll try to drop a post when I can, and hopefully I’ll be able to visit everyone’s blogs as well, but if not, I’ll see y’all in December instead.

But anyway, let’s rewind to October…

Let’s Rewind: September 2019

My blogging has been dragging lately, which is why we’re well into October and I’m now posting my September wrap-up. I’m borderline in a blogging slump. I think I read too many books for the NEWTs Magical Readathon so when I think of doing the reviews, I feel overwhelmed and give up.

About two months have passed since that readthon and I’m still reviewing books I read for the event. I enjoyed the event but this blogging slump isn’t gelling well with the review writing. But I intend to review each book I read on here, so I’ll write and post them…eventually. Anyway…
